About this artwork
With sweeping acrylic strokes, I captured an explosion of vibrant blooms bursting joyfully against a serene blue sky. Each petal dances with lightness and motion, evoking the fresh energy of nature waking up. This impressionistic approach celebrates life's fleeting beauty, filling any space with a cheerful, uplifting spirit that invites you to pause, breathe, and revel in simple happiness.
This is the first painting I created during my stay in Shanghai,… China. The very sexy Huangpu River is the inspiration for the vertical flowing background. The flowers are everywhere I go, but the yellow ones come from a beautiful wall display in front of the river. For the first time, I used Chinese acrylic paint. I love them. I have been honored with a 3-month artist residency at the beautiful Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. Everything is so elegant and lovely, and the people are so helpful and friendly. All of this beauty and happiness, comes through in the art.
I am a bestselling polymath painter. My floral art is based on actual medical/scientific studies on health and happiness. In 2024, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine interviewed me for my “happy” art and my book, 100 Days Of Happy Happy Art, Evidence-Based Design. My art was also on the Jan/Feb 2025 cover of Healthcare Design Magazine.
By 2050, an estimated 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. My Smart City Art series promotes this planet-healing idea. I also worked in Tokyo as an English rewriter for the anime/animation industry, which included working on a Studio Ghibli film before it got sold to Disney. I believe this influence comes out in my Smart City Art abstracts. In 2026, I will be going to China for three months to paint beautiful Shanghai and sustainability.
I also love creating commissioned art. I love combining my art talent with a client's vision to create a new work of art. It's challenging but so much fun!
