About this artwork
In every letter, text, movement that we make we move ourselves. That is, in fact, a picture of us, our movement and our energy. It is an impulse that moves and inspires everybody. That gesture in itself carries a huge possibility of interpretation and creation of visual painting. Powerful, consistent gesture which is free and at the same time controlled. Contrast of big and small, strong and subtle, hard and soft, is very exciting and represents… energy that attracts and holds the attention. Direction painting is a diptych, and it consists of two equal parts.
« Movement is life. We move in all directions, bodily, spiritually, energetically... »
Dušica Pejić explores the relationship between visual art, movement, and psychological states. Her works reflect an introspective searching of the unconscious, evident in her paintings, objects, and drawings. She examines the interplay between the conscious and unconscious, focusing on inner conflicts shaping daily life. Her art invites viewers to reflect on how opposites—light and darkness, chaos and order—define human experience, emphasizing conflict as essential for growth. Dušica holds a bachelor's and master's degree in painting from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and a specialization from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Recognized as a leading abstract painter in Serbia since 2000, her works are part of prestigious collections, including Mandarin Oriental Savoy and Alex Lake Luxury Hotel in Zurich, MONO in Budapest, and others. As an associate at the Belgrade Dance Institute, she develops projects integrating visual and performing arts.
