About this artwork
FRESHLY SQUEEZED - artists in crisis
The crisis dominates the mood. One almost has the impression that one is sliding ideas - and without a leader, slowly towards the final crash, the rules of the game in the world have changed radically - sour makes fun.
The object, Freshly Squeezed by Eckehard Lowisch, is based on the cross-section of an ancient Greek column. The fluting is a creative trick in the Greek column order, which overcomes the horizontal… joints that are created by joining several layers on top of each other.
The material from which the object is made is the yellow Siena marble, which is traditionally used for inlays in sacred buildings.
It is the sculptor's favorite stone and yet the gallery owner has reservations about this stone. A game with shapes and behavior. Does anyone feel squeezed out here?

« My motivation is the creation of sculptures that connect the principles of order and chaos. »
Eckehard Lowisch is a prizewinning German artist whose works are held in national public collections. Lowisch's sculptures seek to counteract traditional ideas and physical properties. To do so, the artist combines natural and industrial themes to achieve a balance between rational and fantasy forms. His works are spontaneous, gestural forms, unpretentious, and fragmentary.
