Playing War. Proposing a foray into a universe of urban outskirts or abandoned battle grounds, in which human footprints leave behind devastating impacts. Also inspired by the aesthetics of strategy games, particularly board games, the canvas became a board, oscillating between the concept of a Playground, present in older works, and that of a Battleground. Torony is an emerging Romanian artist who finds artistic inspiration in many of life's details: Books, songs, lyrics, conversations with friends, and her immediate environment - particularly the waste she has observed in the face of urban growth. Her paintings are a fusion of gestural abstraction, surreal scenes, and concrete objects and shapes.
