About this artwork
Some places seem to change their nature depending on the light that passes through them. That morning, San Francisco Bay presented a particular face, where the light gradually unified the landscape and revealed the subtle balance between the city, the water, and the sky.
I sought to capture this fragile balance between presence and disappearance, when the landscape ceases to be merely a place and becomes a visual experience. The gaze is then no… longer guided by details, but by light itself.
This photograph was taken in a single shot, without artificial intelligence, photomontage, or digital assembly. The image is constructed directly during a long exposure using a technique I have been developing for over ten years, making light, movement, and time the true compositional materials.
I create photographs in a single shot, without artificial intelligence, without photomontage or digital assembly, in order to create images on the border between photography and painting.
For over ten years, I have been developing a technique that I have perfected entirely, allowing me to construct the image directly during long exposures that can last several minutes. The final work is thus born at the very moment of capture, making light, movement, and time the true compositional materials.
In a world saturated with instant images, my work is part of a quest for slowing down and contemplation. The resulting photographs invite a quieter experience of landscape, architecture, and space.
This approach has led me to collaborate with houses and groups such as LVMH, Bouygues, Paprec, and was rewarded by the Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters in Paris in 2023.
