« I think art has no boundaries. Although I have experienced a huge extreme in culture between East and West, I think they are only different sides of the same mountain. »
U.K. painter Edward Hongyi began studying traditional Chinese painting with his grandfather when he was just three years old. Using giclée print on paper and cardboard, Hongyi's work explores and builds a relationship between social phenomena and urban landscapes. With references to surrealism and expressionism, Hongyi's works also portray his own re-imaginings of space and aesthetics. A unique and stunning merging of traditional chinese painting with modern expressions, Hongyi's creates intricate black and white images superimposed over geometric forms.
