About this artwork
This painting was made as a preparatory study for a larger painting that was shortlisted for a prestigious prize in London in 2018. The painting depicts a hippie-like couple bathing in the sea in front of an oversized sunset. The colour palette makes reference to psychedelia and the notion that the path to creativity lies through the unlocked doors of perception.
