About this artwork
The series "The Body as Burden" continues my exploration of the human body‘s representation and its identity in relation to itself, others, and its environment. However, this time, migration and the experience of distance add another dimension: the longing to embrace a loved one who is now far away was the driving force behind these works. It is a merging that transcends borders, bringing freedom and liberation.
The rebellious bodies in this series… are intertwined with red forms that, for me, symbolize blood and the struggle for change. The interplay of these flowing reds and the narratives of embrace was an attempt to depict the sensation of movement and the passion for life.

Ehsan Arjmand is a painter and draftsman whose works have been shown in national and international exhibitions. The human body has always been central to his practice, serving as a way to reflect on identity and the body's relationship with the self, others, objects, and the environment. His visual language leans more on tactile perception than vision, offering a meditative experience of energy flow within and around the body. In recent works, Arjmand explores bodily narratives intertwined with red abstract forms, evoking blood, struggle, and the desire for change. His process embraces spontaneity: without preparatory sketches, he builds narratives through ambiguous, layered textures of pure color, seeking order within chaos—much like life itself.
