About this artwork
“Anthropocene defloration/defaunation”
Art vs. nature, or the art forms of nature and the natural forms of art.
Series of images that thematizes wild nature and its supposed arbitrariness and diversity in a “contrast” to “artificial, created” intelligence in the symbolic form of technical drawings and figures.
I use the visual language of botanical illustrations and study drawings by traveling scientists and autodidacts of the Renaissance and… the 18th and 19th centuries.
Through the natural forms of flora and fauna, geometric, constructed figures appear in the background, which assert their linear existence parallel to the natural world.
But it is not a juxtaposition of two different worlds - one is actually part of the other.
Geometric shapes such as diatoms, fossils, atoms, cells and fractals are the small building blocks that form the structure and enable the entire wild biotope to exist in “chaos”.
