About this artwork
Living Water II is one of several digital collages in my Mortal Landscape series. All of the pieces in this collection were inspired by original poetry from the same series. By layering the physical landscape within the human portrait and figure, I am attempting to express the landscape of human emotion and experience in a new way. Through empathy and wonder, I am also seeking to elevate how we care for one another, other creatures, and our environment.…
All of the visual art in this series began as individual analog pieces (utilizing traditional processes in watercolour, charcoal, graphite, etc.), which were then combined into final compositions using digital processes, creating a mixed media digital collage of sorts.
The total print run for this piece in all sizes and on all supports will be 40. This 11x14" limited edition print is 1/12 on museum quality archival cotton. A custom frame can be added, if desired. Larger sizes on HD metal are also available upon request.

- Works on commission
Elaine Ellis, an American Canadian poet, painter, digital and conceptual artist, blends her rich background in theatre, education, and literature into her multidisciplinary practice. She skillfully fuses traditional watercolours, drawing, and photography into lush digital collages, and her paintings range from vibrant portraits to atmospheric abstractions in a range of media, often extending to large-scale installations. Her work evokes a compelling tension between the beautiful and the broken, inviting viewers to reflect on humanity, nature, and the transformative power of empathy.
