About this artwork
Quetzalcoatl was finished for the Venus eclipse in June 2004...(made 2003-2004). It is the biggest artwork I painted to date.
I started it without knowing ( I discovered it whilst I was creating it) that for the Mayan people, that year, that first Venus eclipse ( they come by two... the first: June 2004 & the second in June 2012) announced the Return of the Energy of Quetzalcoatl... and for them He has an equivalent energy to that of Master Jesus...… Maya Elders see Him as a Being of Love and Wisdom; others see Him as A God/ a King honored in South and Central America...
He is assimilated with the Sun, with butterflies, with birds and pregnant women and so I painted them... The blood/veins going into the pyramid is a symbol of his life force, of things interwoven in each other...
I also incorporated the Five elements.
Quetzalcoatl is part of my creaton "The Elven Tarot of the New Age as the Card for the Element of Spirit.
