About this artwork
The Lighthouse Keeper is an original mixed media painting on a deep canvas, that can be hung directly onto the wall.
I use a variety of materials which enable me to make a broad range of marks; acrylic paint, pencils, crayon and spray paint. The use of metallic paint enables me to work with reflected light.
I work organically, often without a clear destination in mind, creating deliberate imperfections. Adding layer upon layer of abstract marks… and scratches, colour and depth, imbuing the work with life and energy, gently vibrating in the vast shimmering pools of colour.
Part of my goal is to create a personal language of marks and gestures, that feel both personal but also universal. An intimate hand writing of abstraction.
I aim to create a harmonious space, both energetic but also meditative.
The paintings have an awareness of their own edges and boundaries.They glimmer and define, and ultimately hold their space firmly and gently.
