About this artwork
The heart is a symbol of love and life. This work is alive as it contains the element of life represented in its material – rose petals and mold.
The main question of Elen Alien’s art is “What does it mean to be alive?”. Her research is addressing questions that people have unsuccessfully tried in vain for centuries to find answers to with the help of science and technology. The metamodernist manifesto says “Just as science strives for poetic elegance,… artists might assume a quest for truth. All information is grounds for knowledge, whether empirical or aphoristic, no matter its truth value. We should embrace the scientific-poetic synthesis and informed naivety of magical realism. Error breeds sense.”. As a metamodernist artist, Elen Alien is searching for answers in non-obvious metaphysical and mythological fields.
She believes that our world has a dual structure - physical and metaphysical components. Thereby, everything that forms it including the artworks, too.
