« The act of creation is a kind of ritual. The origins of art and humanity lie hidden in this mysterious creation. Human creativity reconfirms and mystifies the power of life. -Keith Haring »
Elena Monzo is an Italian painter, draftsman, and printmaker who has exhibited her works nationally. She compares her artworks to an onion, as her compositions can be interpreted in many layers. Monzo's subjects are mostly women, and she enjoys portraying the female figure because it is complex and through it, we can deepen our understanding of various cultures, as well as our society. Her subjects are often depicted wearing masks, because "the mind lies while the heart is free".
