About this artwork
There is a special kind of silence in a garden when peonies are in full bloom — not empty, but full of light and breathing color. When I painted these white peonies, I wanted to keep that feeling on the canvas: petals unfolding in layers of cream, blush and cool shadow, leaves weaving through them like a protective net of green.
In a home, this painting brings a soft, spacious calm. The whites and gentle pinks brighten a room without feeling loud,… while the deep greens add depth and balance. It works beautifully above a bed, sofa or sideboard, quietly becoming part of the atmosphere.
For me, it is a reminder of those seasons when beauty arrives all at once — not perfect, but generous, a little wild, and very alive.
Elena Murtazin works in oil painting and silk painting, building on her deep background in applied arts and textile design. She weaves expressive realism with abstract elements, using bold gestural marks and layered textures in oils, and harnessing the softness and unpredictable flow of dyes on silk. Her evocative pieces balance structure with spontaneity, and channel nature not as mere subject but as an emotional, energetic presence—each artwork ultimately conveying a quiet intensity and an expansive sense of inner connection to the world.
