Gold as a working material is timeless, perfect, modern and absolutely archaic.
I started to use gold in my works as a versatile material that offers different possibilities, be it in structure or colorfulness. I am fascinated by the interaction between the gold and the painting, and especially the effects and color tones that are created.
Gold has a color with psychological power or effect, which often hides a special symbolism behind it.

Elena Starostina is an experienced artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Russia, the Netherlands, Romania, and Austria. Her distinctive landscapes, florals, cityscapes, and figurative works are most often created with oils, watercolors, ink, and pastels on canvas or linen. Starostina's plein air compositions are characterized by her emphasis on freedom of expression and subtle color relationships.
