About this artwork
As a child, I was swimming in the sea in Italy when I was surrounded by a swarm of jellyfish. Their stinging cells injured my skin all over. Afterwards, I developed a high fever and vomited – I was bedridden for several days.
Despite this painful experience, these beings, composed almost entirely of water, have never left me. Their quiet grace and mysterious glow in the darkness continue to fascinate me to this day.
My jellyfish also carries this… light within it – I used fluorescent paint so that it begins to glow in the dark.
