About this artwork
In Chiara con il fuoco I wanted to give shape to an internal energy, to a presence that is born from the body and transforms into living matter.
The female figure emerges and at the same time dissolves into the color: it is not separate from the fire, it is the fire.
I worked with oil paint instinctively, allowing the reds, yellows, and oranges to move freely, without controlling them too much. The gesture is as important as the image: the brushstrokes… remain visible, the texture is dense, at times irregular, because I wanted the painting to maintain a real, physical tension.
The body is not described narratively, but emotionally. It is a vibrating presence, occupying space without asking permission. The surrounding landscape is not a specific place, but an internal state, an environment that reacts to the figure and its warmth.
This work speaks of transformation, of strength, of fragility becoming power. In painting it, I followed the color as one follows an impulse: defenselessly, with confidence.
Elidon Mucaj, a self-taught painter born in Vlorë and active between Tuscany, Milan, and Berlin, primarily works in oil on canvas, exploring painting as an instinctive and material medium. He adopts an experimental and vigorous approach, favoring intense colors, palette knives, and forceful brushstrokes to reveal emotional tensions and the power of the unconscious. His works convey a powerful sense of vulnerability, inner conflict, and hope, always striving to transform human pain and anguish into a living, authentic, and moving form.
