About this artwork
This painting used to be part of one large work together with Wooden Bench in the Summer. For weeks at the Academy I talked it through with my professors – something always felt off. I couldn’t find the balance and the idea behind the piece kept slipping away.
At some point it became clear that I was forcing together two parts that didn’t belong. The upper section held a brief moment under the trees, and the lower one was a sharp, geometric view… of the monkey bars in midsummer light. So I separated the canvas, cut it carefully, and stretched each part onto new frames built for their new proportions.
My professors didn’t expect that solution, but it worked. Both paintings became clearer, stronger, and finally made sense on their own while still sharing the same starting point.
The paintings are ready to hang and will be shipped in secure, multi-layered packaging with an insured, tracked delivery and a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Eliza Kołodziej is a Polish painter and textile artist with a rich background in traditional crafts, painting and artistic tapestry, trained at top academies and influenced by nature and industrial landscapes. She masterfully employs oil on canvas and weaving, using expressive, sometimes precise brushwork and optical illusions, blending studio and plein-air techniques to poetically transform everyday scenes into visual stories. Her art conveys deep emotional resonance—inviting viewers to rediscover wonder, tenderness, nostalgia and a gentle examination of loneliness and longing in the overlooked corners of the world.
