About this artwork
The cigarette drawing on the ashtray is bold, almost cheerful – a quick marker-like sketch. But behind that playful gesture sits a quiet gap. The bench is empty, the person gone, and what stays is only a trace of presence. The scene turns into a study of leftovers – the small evidence of someone who isn’t there anymore.
The wooden bench, painted with near-photorealistic clarity, contrasts with the shifting shadow of the flowers. Their soft silhouettes… move across the wall as if passing through the space the absent figure once occupied. The stillness hangs between comfort and unease, holding both at once.
In this piece I explored how a simple resting place can carry emotion.
