About this artwork
A woman sits quietly before a mirror, combing her hair. Soft light highlights her figur and the gentle movement of her hand. The scene feels calm and intimate — a moment of self-absorption and simple beauty. For my painting “Moment” I drew inspiration from the intimate depictions of women in art history, especially the works of Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, and Gustav Klimt. The piece captures a quiet, timeless moment of everyday beauty.

Eliza Mayer's paintings are inspired by nature.
Often you see blurred landscapes but also naturalistically depicted figures that do not really represent reality.
Although observation is often Mayer's starting point, her works are products of imagination and intuition.
She combines thin layers of paint with thick brushwork and paints over areas that look too real.
She chooses oil paint as her medium and dilutes the paint to give it a transparent quality, thereby removing the paint's materiality.
The landscapes or figures are subtle, emotional, sentimental and have a mood.
The work is spontaneous, with quick gestures, it is a search.
