About this artwork
You know them, those leaves as you often see them in ditches and ponds in autumn and winter. They are dying along with branches. I saw the effect of light, the reflection, the refraction of the light, the vibration in the water. I found that very intriguing, I had to do something with it. I always look for abstraction in my subjects. so you can see this painting both figurative and abstract.

Ella Joosten is an award-winning artist based in the Netherlands whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and Hungary. In addition, her art has been featured in publications such as Art Agenda and Stichting Kunstweek. Intreagued by the interplay of color and shapes, her figurative and abstract works are created in themed series. Joosten has explored subjects which include nature, flower still lifes, geishas, fish, etc.
