About this artwork
work created on old original VHS from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, applied on wooden board, UAV digital print and hand painted with spray and acrylic.
The subject is a cosplayer girl from the mythical and iconic Star Wars saga from the 70s. Depicted in a sexy and alternative way. My work expresses an intriguing cross between realism and surrealism, intertwined with recycled elements or old VHS video cassettes. I used techniques such as acrylic,… graffiti, spray and UAV printing to create an image that challenges traditional perceptions of identity and power. The contrast between the human and the iconic element of pop culture, in this case the mask, raises questions about the belief and control in modern society over the provocative and sensual aspect. This vibrant and evocative work will invite deep reflections in every space in which it is placed, bringing an energy of bold questioning.
Luca Azzurro is a hymn to artistic reconversion, an artist and architect trained at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He uses old VHS tapes as a canvas, creating collages and paintings that integrate content and form. His works, created with various painting techniques, challenge perception and imagination, fusing contemporary art and nostalgia. They convey powerful reflections on materiality, temporality and the uniqueness of the technological past, evoking personal aesthetics and universal memories.
