work created on old original VHS from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, applied on wooden board, I combined the use of acrylic, sprays and UV digital printing.
The ironic subject of Donald Trump and Elon Musk riding a Tesla rocket represents American capitalism conquering the world. In my work, Through a bold use of color and technique, I wanted to capture the essence of the iconic and dynamic characters with irony to denounce a critical moment that… we live in these current times where we all need help because of the decisions of the people in power, all this with a contemporary pop touch. My goal is to make this energy vibrate, bringing a spirit of reflection and a palpable energy to any environment in which it finds a home.
Luca Azzurro is a hymn to artistic reconversion, an artist and architect trained at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He uses old VHS tapes as a canvas, creating collages and paintings that integrate content and form. His works, created with various painting techniques, challenge perception and imagination, fusing contemporary art and nostalgia. They convey powerful reflections on materiality, temporality and the uniqueness of the technological past, evoking personal aesthetics and universal memories.
