Ellen Hausner has always been a wanderer and a traveller, but as she begins to become more rooted in Oxford, England, her recent oil artworks examine what it means to identify with a place, to be situated in a physical environment, and to have a home. Can one be at home anywhere, or does home necessitate walls and a roof? Do we carry the sense of home within us? Is home always a tangible space or is it a state of mind? Ellen's experience is that…
home can be wherever she is, for the deepest place is the inner solidity of self; the process of finding an outer place is reflected by an inner surety.
This painting attempts to capture the beauty and perfection of geometry at the same time as showing spaces within spaces. It is called 'Inner Space' because space is as much of a concept as it is an everyday reality. Sometimes it is difficult to know what is inside and what is outside: we project our inner space and reality on our environment.

Ellen Hausner's works of art are explorations of the ephemeral and unseen. The sense of sacred permeates her pieces, as she delves into the themes of transformation, transmutation, and evolution. Moving between abstraction and the figurative, a meditative state of mind is of the utmost importance and acts as a starting point for Hausner's artistic process. She paints with India ink, acrylics, oils, and watercolors on paper and canvas, using traditional techniques as a base for each piece.
