About this artwork
A small figure stands in a poppy with a combative gesture. The girl on the poppy represents the interplay between humans and nature—full of energy and joie de vivre. With playful lightness, I attempted to create a kind of communication between humans and flowers. The combination of naive representation and pop art elements is typical of my art; it invites you into a surreal world.
The image is a lithograph. It was hand-printed by me using four colors.
Ellen Semen, a versatile artist, studied painting and intermedia design in Stuttgart, Moscow, and Marseille. She now lives in Vienna and Croatia. Her colorful, reflective paintings are representational and often characterized by collage techniques, influenced by themes such as war, nature, the environment, and, more recently, artificial intelligence. Her works are inspired by current events and the wonders of nature. They convey a deep admiration for the world and the ability to recognize beauty in all facets of life.
