About this artwork
The artist was interested in the notion of "symbol." Her sources of inspiration come mostly from the internet, which, in her view, offers an infinite wealth of raw materials. These "symbols/icons" can originate from popular imagery (Queen Elizabeth II), here pixelated as if worn by overexposure, or from online news outlets.
She enjoys blurring the lines in improbable ways, combining images from different backgrounds, creating a "fresco" of our society,… burlesque if not disturbing.
