About this artwork
Painted with expressionist techniques, the colors represent the shape and symbolically suggest a golden mask. The mask has always meant to conceal the identity and, therefore, is a representation of a false self. The true essence of the person is hidden in the black space and is indecipherable. Masking also means simulating and presenting a different identity. The material of which the mask is made therefore replaces the identity of the person.

« Art is useless, Therefore it is indispensable »
Emanuela Volpe is an experimented artist based in Italy whose paintings have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. Her art explores "eternal and changing subjects" which include human figures, words, visible fragments of stories, chromatic vibrations, as well as formal traces of complex elements. Volpe describes her art as a portrayal of "contrasts and apparent oddities". Her diverse figurative compositions are created using acrylics and oils on canvas.
