About this artwork
This painting is part of my recent solo exhibition held in my home town and presenting 38 paintings in the theme sunflowers. I have named this exhibition STOPS. All summer I pass by the sunflower field twice a day. I observed their life. I reflected. The sunflower lives only 5 months and experiences so many states, each of them in its true meaning and conscious passion. I saw steadfastness, dedication and confidence. inevitable. Every period or even moment, every person we meet, carries something, has a role, has the right time. We stop somewhere or with someone. We stop in some feeling, in some thought, in some state. Do we understand how these states build us. How do we react to them and do we allow them to define us? Do we become them? That's why most of the paintings of this exhibition have names of states. That was my way of making sense of them.

Emilia Milcheva is a prize-winning Bulgarian painter whose works have been featured in numerous exhibitions on a national level. Emilia's ceramic practice is grounded in the wabi-sabi Zen philosophy, embracing imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty of the unfinished. Working with clay as both material and a partner, she creates forms that are intentionally irregular, allowing intuition, gravity, and chance to shape each piece. The process values presence over precision and acceptance over control. Irregular silhouettes, raw surfaces, and subtle distortions are essential elements of her work - qualities that reflect the transient nature of existence.
