Porcelain object with cut-out and glued writings inside and out, wanting to deliver a universal message, humanist, positive thoughts. The object is semi-closed by a porcelain grid where words like flowers seek to escape, to bloom despite everything. The flowers are flat like sheets of paper as if taken from an artist's drawing. There is undoubtedly a bit of Matisse in the drawing of the flowers whose portrait and his quote "reveal a little of the… fresh beauty of the world" have accompanied me in the studio since the beginning of my artistic adventure.
Émilie Bontoux works primarily with porcelain, combining technical mastery with creativity fueled by extensive training in ceramics. She fuses contemporary techniques and contrasting materials, integrating the delicacy of porcelain with the roughness of stoneware, while exploring engraved writing as a vehicle for emotion and reflection. Inspired by nature, music, and poetry, she infuses her works with a profound sensitivity and fragile beauty, inviting each viewer to contemplate the invisible and experience the poetry of the world.
