About this artwork
This painting, titled "From the Top of the Cliff," is a work I created to capture the essence of a seascape seen from a cliff.
I chose to depict this scene in an abstract style, using expressive brushstrokes and varied textures to evoke the movement and depth of the ocean. The dominant colors are deep blue and gray, symbolizing the sea and sky, with touches of white to represent the foam of the waves and the reflections of light.
The atmosphere… I wanted to convey is both serene and powerful, reflecting the beauty and strength of nature. The simple, modern setting enhances the work without overloading it, allowing the viewer to fully immerse themselves in the marine atmosphere.
This painting is an invitation to contemplation, bringing a touch of nature, tranquility and freedom to the space in which it is displayed.
Émilie Cerles, a self-taught artist from Aveyron, creates abstract art using various tools and materials such as water and white vinegar. She enjoys experimenting with the effects of these materials to create natural lines and reliefs, constantly seeking to discover new techniques. Through her works, Emilie Cerles pays homage to her land, nature, and expresses her emotions using intuitive colors and shapes.
