Transmutography, another technique I created, involves digitally transforming the initial images, to which I then add resin. In this work, as in all those from the "THE KISS" collection, the resin is always applied to the magical vortex created by the kiss, which is round (feminine) at the bottom and more square at the top (masculine). Resin is also found on those who benefit from the kiss's effect, such as the sailor who laughs as he watches what… happens. The work is a tribute to the iconic shot by photographer Alfred Eisensteadt, of the kiss between sailor George Mendonsa and the unknown nurse Greta Zimmer, on D-Day in Times Square. I wanted to remove everything that didn't interest me, leaving the romance and friendship and adding many colorful human figures, to represent those who were saved by the end of the war, as well as dark ones, representing those who are no longer with us.
