About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the complexity of human emotions through a profound and fragmented gaze. The cubist forms, combined with raw energy, convey the duality between vulnerability and strength. Each chosen color awakens an inner intensity, creating a vibrant contrast that brings a smile to the margins. This painting will infuse your space with passionate energy and invite introspection.
Created on the back of a cupboard door.
Eric Doisy, originally from Lille, expresses himself primarily through oil stick painting, approached in an instinctive and visceral manner. Inspired by Basquiat and Schiele, he forges a raw style, featuring recurring figures with singular graphics—small heads, asymmetrical gazes, distorted mouths. His wild and direct technique accentuates the tension between control and chaos. Through his works, he conveys a powerful emotional charge, questioning the viewer about the intimacy of their own flaws and the depth of their emotions, beyond any facade.
