About this artwork
All the drawings of this series are executed from life, from short poses typically between 1 minute and 3 minutes. I usually start with compressed charcoal that I dip in India ink, which allows me to start my lines with a thicker and more black quality. I then use watercolor to enhance my drawing. With both charcoal and color I work fast, trying to capture the movement and the energy of the pose without thinking too much in order to keep the looseness…
and spontaneity, which for me are more interesting than realism or anatomic accuracy.
