About this artwork
The picture takes up the motif of the whirlpool, which Heel used again and again in his earlier works, and places it in a changed painterly context. It looks almost like an enlargement. The dynamics of the process are obvious. The whirlpool is surrounded by brittle material that is subject to constant change. The process has a macro- or microcosmic effect and corresponds to the theme "Driving Forces of the Earth", which Heel takes up in his examination…

Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
