About this artwork
The inspiration for Hunter came from my early sketches made between 2000 and 2002, as well as vivid memories from my distant childhood. I was born and spent my early years in the far north of Russia, in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in a small… settlement called Chokurdakh, not far from the East Siberian Sea. At that time, I loved reading books about the adventures of travelers, explorers, and hunters. Alongside these stories, I was surrounded by real-life heroes: my father, a polar pilot who took part in numerous scientific expeditions to the Arctic Ocean, and my grandfather, a passionate hunter and traveler, as well as an incredibly kind and positive person.
All these memories naturally create their own images — I am merely the conduit who brings them to life on canvas.
