About this artwork
In this painting, I explored the stark contrast between human resilience and the decay of a war-torn city. The huge faces of Putin and Zelensky on crumbling buildings symbolize despair, fear, decline, apathy, and hope. I chose watercolor to combine realism with surrealism, creating a reflective, almost evocative atmosphere. A lone figure among the ruins holding the hand of a small boy speaks to us of the resilience and quiet strength present within…
each of us, reminding viewers of the vibrant lives and stories that persist even in forgotten and destroyed places.
