About this artwork
It's figurative portrait of a nude woman. I took inspiration from the classic sculpture of the Roman era - in this case Discobolus. In fact this whole series is based on that era and its celebration of the nude figure. I went there because these works are timeless and still celebrated today. The simplicity of a simple pose in movement. I wanted to add a female twist to it, as many of these works portray a male figure. Really not just a female nude…
but a self-portrait study and part of my personal documentation of my own time.
