About this artwork
In this fifth sculpture in the series, Barbie is covered in black gauze but her face is beaming with joy.
My inspiration was: Joy and sorrow are close together. In fact, when we lose heavily, we also experience a lot of energy and feel the preciousness and joy of life.
Here Barbie is mounted on a round, partially incised canvas. This is "decorated" with found objects, painted sponges and pieces of fabric. Ease..

In this series, the world-famous Barbie doll is presented in exciting and new contexts. Their imperishable and perfect beauty may remain, but I give the barbies new roles with a deeper meaning.
It is a liberation from rigid beauty and perfection. The new roles are not clearly defined, but in any case they are archaic and sometimes a bit weird... to think about and also to smile...
