The game of life
Friedrich Schiller
Do you want to look in my box?
The game of life, the small world,
Immediately it should appear to your eyes;
You just don't have to stand too close
You must love candles
And only see at Cupid's torch.
Look here! The stage is never empty:
There they bring the child carried
The boy hops, the youth rushes along,
The man fights, and he will dare to do anything.
Everyone tries his luck
But the track… to the race is just narrow:
The car rolls, the axles burn
The hero pushes forward boldly, the weakling remains behind,
The proud falls to me in a ridiculous trap,
The clever one overtakes them all.
You see the women standing at the bar
With a lovely look, with beautiful hands
To give thanks to the winner
