About this artwork
It is actually stupid for Eva to show this picture here. Because next year she is planning an exhibition in which she weaves people with chairs as if they were sphinxes. And this work was painted for this exhibition. But now it just happens.
People and armchairs are both preferred motifs by Eva. Here brought together in a very abstract way. You can see the building blocks like a woman's long hair and face shape, the chair legs, and yet everything… remains very much in the painterly space. Also due to the background, which strangely comes to the fore ....
