About this artwork
Greece is just as beautiful as other Mediterranean countries.
My favorite islands are the Cyclades. "White architecture" with turquoise wooden accents: doors, windows, tables, and chairs, not just in restaurants. The soil on the islands is barren, but olive trees, figs, grapevines, bougainvillea, and agave thrive there. Flowers and succulents are planted in pots. These are placed on balconies, terraces, and in the streets in front of the houses.…
The characteristic street decoration consists of asymmetrical slabs of varying sizes, with their edges (“joints”) painted white. A beautiful graphic element. These contours are always pure white!
The splendor of colors—blue sky, navy sea, ancient remains, and the kitchen—inspired me to paint. The painting is on a linen-covered panel. Two photos show the painting phase.
