About this artwork
In the Time Window series I try to deal with the dimension of time, seeing it as something that affects all levels of life. It is the window to our past but also to the future. Here I work with geometric shapes, squares, circles, triangles, which are on several levels, communicate with each other, influence each other. Sharp edges create contrasts, soft light and shadow give the pictures a special, sometimes mystical atmosphere. I use acrylic paints,…
other materials such as structure gels, as well as paper or sand to give the pictures more plasticity. The picture "Green Power" was created as one of the first works in this series. This is my interpretation of the power and beauty of nature, which has blessed us humans with its abundant gifts since time immemorial. We should take care of it, then we can lead a happy and harmonious life in the future.

Ewa Martens is a versatile artist known for her intuitive and experimental approach to abstract art. Using acrylic paints, texture pastes, inks, fabrics, and other materials, she creates a lively, spontaneous dialogue on canvas—playful yet precise.
Three key moments have shaped her artistic career: a monumental commission for the Miniaturland in Leer with a work over 10 meters wide; a major solo exhibition in 2018 at the Bremen Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians with 91 abstract works spread over three floors; and the invitation to participate in the 2023 Florence Biennale – a significant international recognition of her work.
