About this artwork
This original oil painting is a visual allegory about chaos as an inescapable reality and determining force, and its inevitable collision with human will.
Chaos (The Moth): Represented by the immense nocturnal creature, it symbolizes the unpredictable, overwhelming, and uncontrollable nature of the universe. Its disproportionate size underscores the monumental scale of chaos compared to individual existence.
Will and Rejection (The Human Figure):… The naked man embodies the vulnerability of the human condition. His defensive posture and raised hand materialize the visceral rejection of the human mind to accept chaos.
The Illusion of Order (The Bricks - Tetris): The small cluster of red bricks on which the man rests represents the constructs of order, logic, and civilization to which humanity desperately clings amidst a sea of uncertainty.
« Reality is a wholeness. Fragmentation is an illusion. »
Ezequiel Martínez Llaser is an artist with a long international career. She was born in Argentina in 1981 and lives in Paris and Barcelona. She studied art and philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires and Paris VIII, and participated in various workshops with leading artists on the current scene. Coming from a family of photographers, he felt increasingly drawn to the visual arts, which allowed him to convey his philosophical ideas. His art, primarily large-format surrealist oil paintings, is a deconstruction of reality and the values that dominate our society. His latest series, "Fragmentation and Totality," questions Western rationalism with vitalist philosophical concepts (Nietzsche and Bergson). He is influenced by the painters Dalí and Goya. He has held important exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, and Paris. In 2019 she participated in the Florence Biennale. Since 2022, his work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.
