About this artwork
Inspired during the covid19 pandemic and my fascination of spiders, spider webs and my consideration about seeing the world through the optic of spider webs.
I recently decided on the title of this painting after reading about "The Myth of Arachne" on and email from Clio's Art Fair. In this beautiful piece it is depicted how spiders emerged in the world as as narrated by the Roman poet, Ovid. Briefly, the story says a girl named Arachne had fabulous… weaving skills and was very famous at a young age. Unfortunately, her talent was challenged by the goddess Athena who went jealous of her and converted her into a spider hanging from a tree. Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40," Ready to hang.
