About this artwork
Changing her artistic direction from the colorful layers of encaustic and oil and cold wax, she is moving to a "lighter hand" with delicate watercolor and inks, topped with a clear encaustic layer, then adding more delicate colors on very thin rice paper., and adding one or two more layers of clear encaustic wax. IShe intends for the layers to show and draw the viewer into the light, peaceful painting.

« I love the physical demands of working with hot wax and resin, and am continually challenged by the expanding possibilities. »
Mexico-based painter Ezshwan Winding's work can be found in permanent collections of museums and universities across the world. After 60 years working in oil, acrylic, and welded steel, Winding fell in love with encaustic painting, a technique involving molten beeswax, tree resin, and pure pigment. Often inspired by dreams and meditation, Winding is exhilarated by the challenges posed by working in this unpredictable and fluid medium. Ranging from figurative to abstract, Winding's works are luminous and delicate.
