About this artwork
Ezshwan has a wonderful model who can change poses and moods easily. She wrapped the large, silk scarf around her head and body and struck this pensive pose.
Ezshwan imaged the mountains in the back ground, probably because we are surrounded by mountains in Central Mexico.
Ezshwan hopes the viewers will feel the deep silence and reflection of this pose.
She kept the oil brush strokes, loose and painterly because it is a painting, not a photograph.

« I love the physical demands of working with hot wax and resin, and am continually challenged by the expanding possibilities. »
Mexico-based painter Ezshwan Winding's work can be found in permanent collections of museums and universities across the world. After 60 years working in oil, acrylic, and welded steel, Winding fell in love with encaustic painting, a technique involving molten beeswax, tree resin, and pure pigment. Often inspired by dreams and meditation, Winding is exhilarated by the challenges posed by working in this unpredictable and fluid medium. Ranging from figurative to abstract, Winding's works are luminous and delicate.
