About this artwork
This piece is a tribute to resistance and resilience.
With Oltre il Vento, I wanted to capture the invisible force that shapes us, like wind against fabric, like pressure on the soul. The knots, the stretches, the folds, they speak of the tension between surrender and strength. Of what holds us back, and what pulls us forward.
The black, deep and enveloping, is not a void. It’s a mirror. It reflects everything we project onto it: fear, elegance,… power, mystery. The surface moves with the light, as if breathing. As if alive.
Like all works in the Confini series, this piece was shaped by hand. No brushes, no molds, only the raw material, my body, and the moment. Each knot is a choice. Each distortion is a memory.
It’s called Oltre il Vento -Beyond the Wind- because I believe we’re all meant to go beyond what seems to push against us. We are shaped by it, but never defined by it.

Fabio Pietrantonio is a self-taught Italian artist who works across painting, sculpture, and conceptual installations, using raw materials like rope, resin, cement, fabric, and wood to articulate his spiritual and ancestral roots. His ritualistic, alchemical techniques, rooted in Arte Povera yet expanded by shamanic intention, strip away the superfluous to reveal essential, sensory dialogues between matter and meaning.
