About this artwork
From the Pont d'Iéna, all eyes naturally turn towards the Eiffel Tower. But that day, I chose to look elsewhere. With a telephoto zoom lens, I isolated the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, like a silent counterpoint to the Parisian symbol.
I waited for the subway to pass.
Once: failed.
Twice: missed again.
Then again… and again. Because I want the subway to be in the middle of the bridge.
After about ten passes, the rhythm finally came together: the train,… the bridge structure, the light, everything aligned.
Fan Li, an impressionist photographer, paints with light: his camera becomes a brush, his breath, and his gesture. Using an original method developed since 2018, now protected by a patent application, he composes the image directly at the moment of capture, without retouching. In his works, sharpness gives way to sensation, and the image approaches painting. It is an invitation to see the world not as it is, but as it is felt.
