About this artwork
Always in search of getting closer to the line, going into the depths between texture and form, I started the Traces project.
I am not a poet and I am not a calligrapher, I use the letter and the word like a brushstroke. By creating this cycle of paintings, I finally achieved my goal: to break the strict codes of calligraphic laws and reveal the flow of unconditioned forms. I provoke art through the ambiguity between calligraphy and the abstract.… My intention is to bring the audience back to the purity and origins of the form, without losing the meaning hidden within it. These forms are not intentional, I propose to the spectators to interpret the signs which appear in their perception.
« I am not a calligrapher, I am an artist who uses letters and words as a brushstroke. »
Farid Izemmour is an experienced artist based in Switzerland whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Italy. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as ITSLIQUID and DZairWorld. Izemmour describes his artistic practice as being based on the abstract expressionist principles inspired by famed artist, Jackson Pollock. Breaking the codes of calligraphy, his distinctive pieces fuse abstraction with the written word.
